Before i started my clothing company i had a design studio by the same name. Before the design studio i had a trippy vision that formulated over several years. That vision reflected my basic philosophy on how the universe functions and how we can choose to accept and play in it. (see swirlspace anthem)

We can all create a vibe around ourselves, positive or negative, active or passive, serious or playful. Our actions and behaviors ripple out thru the ether which affects those beings and entities around us, physically, psychically, spiritually and in ways we can't ever really know...may as well choose peace and positivity...

I'll be posting some random thoughts and images and encourage you to do the same. Feel free to post groovy events and opportunities that relate to our community of supernice freaks and beautiful beings.

Do you know of the Sufi dancers?...they spin inward or outward in a spiral to obtain a hightened awareness....and answers....much like meditation with movement

as an iridologist- we can read the iris of the eye in a circular pattern to tell life events based on time. these time lines in the iris show the spiral patterns that create our core signature of energy movements in the body. The iris simply shows the center of that pattern though it is in reality a moving spiral. All things grow in a spiral pattern. All things evolve in a spiral. i think if we can link into the undulations of the universe through these spirals through dance, yoga, mediation, or visual and musical arts we lock into the alignment that is inherent in these currents.

Wow, that new info to me! thanks.

I love the growth/evolution spiral pattern that is present everywhere around us, invisible/unintelligable to the eye, but comprehended by the soul. Its one of the reasons we feel so relaxed when we're out in nature, harmonic math going on all around us sans calculators. Western civilization has created this linear reality which does not flow naturally and creates inner dysfunctionality.

I had a pretty good phase of drawing where i would start each blank piece with a spiral, or a freeform swirl or a circle. I would just run my pen arounbd and around until it would start creating some wild shit, then my mind would start catching on an eventually - wallah - art!

and does not come close to replicating the multi-faceted intelligence. of the universe.

I just saw a crazy documentary about this artsit/ architecht/ prophecy guy. he has this theory that is basicly the distant future of bio engineering . He maps out these cazy diagrams of concepts he comes into. So you can see his visions in mathematical forms and architectural diagrams. He went to the dentist and they found a metal object in the center of his brain. He thinks it some kind of Alien device that is the reason for his future visions. anyways they have the exray! Crazy! So this guys has this theory that in the future instead of taking plant materials and breaking them down to then rebuilding structures out of natural materials that we will be able to grow living, organic structures to house our personal homes and public centers. The most striking thing about his theory is the diagram he drew of the structures. They are these hollow, massive, spiral shaped structures that look like a living nautilus. Capable of allowing in light and maintaining heat. Way out there stuff but he was pretty convincing. the spiral pattern of the plant had much to do with the "design" and function of the ecco environment. obviously a few hundred years ahead of his time perhaps, but so interesting! i will get his name so you can check out his drawing. They are a trip.

            yes, more info please!

anyone read "the golden ratio" by mario livio? currently reading it (when i have time). so far it's just giving historical background. i found the book by just picking it off someone's shelf at a party and flipping to a random page. pulled me in so i checked it out (it's overdue). if you don't know what the golden ratio is all about, google it, it's pretty intense ^_^

havent read the book, but the golden ratio blew me away when i first read about it years ago. its taught as part of intro to Design in college.

In european design they even follow the golden ratio for such mundane things as paper sizes, so when you fold a sheet in half, it is still the same proportion. Not here! Our proportions and systems are so random and counter-intuitive...

I'd love to get more info. I have heard of these ideas but only a blip...biomimicry is becoming a very popular way to solve design problems in our "modern" world...
          • brain implants?

you don't need an 'alien brain implant' to figure that one out.

in time, i think genetic engineering will allow us to modify tree seeds to grow buildings.

accretion growth generally takes a spiral form because of the shape's efficiency. pretty basic, though the concept has yet to be fully utilized in the building trades.

the whole GE thing has a scary face to it. We dont need aliens to implant our brains when we've got mad gov't scientists doing it already... i'd be happy with two good palm trees on a tropical beach to hang my hammock on and call it "home"...thats mexican engineering...

seriously tho, philip, thanks for that info, i'll look into it more...

The concept is not so new or even futuristic. There is a sci-fi novel about it called either west of eden, or east of eden. i don't remember which, one is by steinbeck, and the other is about what happens when human hunters encounter dinosaurs who have scolpted their entire society to benefit each other and use all organic matter in a creative productive way. check it out.
